Amplify™ POP represents a number of versatile polymers offering improved low temperature toughness, high thermal stability, exceptional adhesion to a variety of surfaces, easy processing and melt indices well-suited for multi-layer structures.

General info

The AMPLIFY™ Functional Polymers family consists of four product groups:

  • AMPLIFY™ EA Functional Polymers - these polymers are ethylene-ethyl acrylate (EEA) copolymers.
  • AMPLIFY™ GR Functional Polymers - these unique polymers are maleic anhydride (MAH) grafted polyolefins.
  • AMPLIFY™ IO Functional Polymers - these new Ionomers are modified ethylene acrylic acid copolymers and are currently available in sodium and zinc grades.
  • AMPLIFY™ TY Functional Polymers - these polymers are designed specifically for packaging tie layer application.

The AMPLIFY™ Functional Polymers family consists of four product groups:

AMPLIFY™ IO Functional Polymers

These unique ionomers of ethylene acrylic acid copolymers are designed to offer end-use performance similar to that of other commercially available ionomers.

AMPLIFY™ IO Functional Polymers are currently offered in sodium and zinc grades that are well suited for use in a variety of applications, including sealants, films and tie-layers films, in food packaging films (beverage, dairy and cheese, meat and poultry, and snack and confection), medical and retail packaging films, moulded durable goods where toughness and scratch and mar resistance are critical (e.g., golf balls), impact modifiers for nylon where optics are important.

AMPLIFY™ EA Functional Polymers

AMPLIFY™ EA Functional Polymers combine excellent toughness, thermal stability, filler acceptance, adhesion, flexibility, and more across a wide range of service temperatures. As a result, these easy-to-process ethylene ethyl acrylate (EEA) copolymers can offer increased value to a variety of applications, including polymer modification, thermal film lamination, tie-layers, profile and tube extrusion, colour and additive carriers, adhesives and binders.

AMPLIFY™ EA provides functional adhesion to polyolefins, metal, cellulose, polyester, polycarbonate, polyvinylidiene chloride (PVDC), glass, foil, and other polar and non-polar substrates.

AMPLIFY™ GR Functional Polymers

Three key attributes help these maleic anhydride (MAH) grafted polyolefins stand out from the crowd. AMPLIFY™ GR polymers offer exceptional adhesion to metal, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polycarbonate, glass, foil, cellulose, and polyolefins. Offered in concentrates that can be used as modifiers in other systems; also offered in formulated versions bringing an array of solutions to a multitude of applications.

With powerful adhesive properties, stability across a broad temperature range, and more, AMPLIFY™ Functional Polymers can offer added value to applications such as compounds and blends – including polymer modification, adhesives, profile extrusion, extrusion coating, thermoplastic powder coating.

AMPLIFY™ TY Functional Polymers

AMPLIFY™ TY Functional Polymers are a comprehensive portfolio of tie-layer resins for sophisticated multi-layer food packaging films providing a valuable extension to the existing AMPLIFY™ Functional Polymers family. It can be used in a wide range of barrier packaging applications, particularly food and specialty packaging. This industry need has opened the door for barriers such as EVOH or polyamide or other substrate structures in need of effective tie-layers. The AMPLIFY™ TY portfolio offers interlayer adhesion products designed to help hold a package together during processes such as hot filling, cooling, shipping, display and consumer use.

AMPLIFY™ TY Functional Polymers are designed to adhere materials in order to help improve overall package performance. The portfolio includes commercial products for polyethylene and polystyrene-based barrier film structures, and developmental grades for polypropylene-based barrier film structures. Research is also underway to offer new opportunities for Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) based barrier film structures.
